STEP participated in the celebration called Day of Ideas organized by the European Union in Salima. STEP set up a display stall and conducted a TEVET knowledge quiz/competition in which students from local secondary schools and Salima Technical College participated. Out of 73 entries, 18 students won prizes such as STEP T-Shirts, Caps and Bags.

Some of the secondary students present were from Parachute and MAFCO secondary schools. Various Organizations such as Oxfam, UNICEF and Art Glo had also set up their displays for the youth to learn more on what these agencies were doing in the country.

Apart from visiting the organized stalls, the young people also had a chance to be entertained by the Zathu band and STEP videos – a compilation of music and poems done by STEP Ambassadors Robert Chiwamba and Sangie.

The Day of Ideas is an interactive event for the youth, using culture and participatory approaches to engage them in key issues facing them and the country at large, in particular, those areas of focus for the EU Delegation. The first Day of Ideas event was held in September 2016 in Malawi.
