48 STEP bursary holders recently graduated from Sam’s Training Village after completing their training in Carpentry and Joinery, Basic Electronics and Tailoring. Sam’s village is a training institution run by The Landirani Trust (also known as African Vision Malawi) and a STEP partner.
With bursary support from the EU funded Skills and Technical Education Programme (STEP) and in partnership with TEVET Authority, The Landirani Trust embarked on providing vocational skills to the vulnerable youth and women of Lilongwe rural north-west and part of Dowa. The graduating class is the first cohort under the STEP Bursary, but the second since the Vocational Training Centre started offering the skills. The aim is that the skills acquired will be a catalyst for a self-sufficient life for the graduates and their families.
Graduates demonstrated what they had learnt during their courses, sang songs and chatted to guests from the Ministry of Labour, Youth, Sports and Man Power Development and STEP at the graduation ceremony. Congratulations to all graduates and all the team at Sam’s Village!
